The key focus areas of ABB School of Maintenance are quality training that is innovative, combines theory, research and practice, and produces trainees who have a broad range of generic skills that will not only equip them to contribute to the economic development of an organization, but also to compete successfully in the international market.
The ABB School of Maintenance learning programmes assists to overcome some of the current challenges associated with the maintenance industry namely, scarcity of experienced maintenance resources, as well as the effective gathering and managing of quality information.
As such, the ABB School of Maintenance’s short learning programmes fit national and international training demands and are presented in Johannesburg at the ABB Campus, Longmeadow, Moddernfontein. However, on-site, in-situ training can be arranged to take place at the client’s premises, country-wide. If required, in-house programmes can be developed to ensure emphasis on company specific training requirements.

The ABB School of Maintenance continues to adapt our training approach to incorporate changes in both legislation and industry practices.

The ABB School of Maintenance aims to increase the level of knowledge amongst maintenance practitioners across all disciplines of the field and on all skills levels. Therefore, the ABB School of Maintenance training programmes, workshops and seminars are prepared and presented by experienced training practitioners and subject matter experts. In association with international and local experts, learning opportunities are being created where maintenance practitioners can add skills that impact on the success of the business performance.
However, at the ABB School of Maintenance, it is acknowledged that a decisive element in organisational success is the ability to achieve results through employee performance. Personal leadership skills impact significantly on operational performance. The ABB School of Maintenance leadership and management programmes provide a set of skills to effective leaders, no matter what scope of responsibility they have. Through developing their own strengths, they learn how to deal with others and develop more effective ways of working with other people.
Presidential Award
Not only is ABB proud of the current training programme offering, the ABB School of Maintenance was also awarded the South African Maintenance Association (SAMA) Presidential Award in 2007. SAMA is an independent association aiming to elevate the status of maintenance practitioners in South Africa, by raising the professional standard of the maintenance industry.
Training Calendar
The ABB School of Maintenance offers public training programmes which are being delivered at various dates throughout the year. Seminars and symposiums are also planned annually and stimulate discourse on current topics within the maintenance arena. The current training offering aims to support maintenance professionals through relevant content and professional delivery of short learning programmes.
