2011-12-12 - HV Substation equipment to provide more reliable energy supply
Zurich, Switzerland, December 12, 2011 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won an order from JSPL Mozambique Minerais LDA, a subsidiary of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, for a 220/33 kV turnkey substation to electrify their Open Cast Coil Mine Project at its mining concession near the Chirodzi village in the Tete Province in Mozambique.
ABB’s scope of supply includes, taping power from Electicidade de Mozambique’s (EDM), the local power service provider’s, the construction of a double circuit overhead line from taping point to the substation site and the construction of the substation. The installation will be compatible with the existing system of service provider EDM.

Key products to be supplied include, step-down transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protection, control interface and communication equipment. This is the fourth project that ABB has won in the last three years after successfully completing Moatize, Vale and Benga projects in Mozambique
